A tale of two eras.
Gobi Desert, Mongolia
The changing scenery on the Trans-Siberian railroad is one thing I will never forget. Whether its the gilded forests or the desolate desert, nature is selfish and won't give up its bounty for the unprepared.

This has been my favorite photo for a while. The young monk was intently focused on his schoolwork while the teacher was watching over the class. The light was perfect and caught his determination.

Sunset over Lake Tonle Sap
My friend Matt and I did a project in our Economics of Natural Resources class on Lake Tonle Sap and the impact the dams have on this ecosystem. It was insane to be able to visit this lake only weeks after studying it.

Ta Prohm Temple
This is one of the more picturesque temples in Angkor Wat. Many of the Wats in the area were abandoned and taken over by the forest. Instead of clearing out the trees for restoration, some archeologists decided to leave this one as is. One amazing fact is that there are carvings on the Wat and one of them looks like a stegosaurus.

Sunrise over Angkor Wat
Everyone should do this one day. One thing down on my bucket list.

Cambodia
The people in Cambodia were extremely nice. We were riding in the back of a motorcycle taxi when I snapped this picture.

Thailand-Cambodia Border
This was the first land crossing I did from one country to another. I just thought it was pretty cool to be able to do that in a random area in the world.

Lod Cave
We took a small raft down this pitch black cave. The only light was this gas lamp the guide had. There were times when we got off the raft and walked through the caves filled with spiders and bats. Awesome.

Lod Cave
This was located a bit outside of Pai.

Pai
The views were just idyllic here. It felt like people just didn't have to worry about anything when they were here.

Pai
Pai was the most relaxing place we went to on the trip. Everything here was so chill and there were a bunch of hippies just playing guitar. These bungalows were where we stayed and it was pretty unique.

Jim Thompson House

Jim Thompson House
This was an excellent place to look at the different art and architecture from Thailand.

Muy Thai
It was awesome to attend one of the weekly muy thai matches. It's places like these where you feel more immersed in local culture.

Bangkok Skyline

Chiang Mai
This jade statue sat atop one of Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep. Unfortunately the weather was overcast when we went there.

Ayutthaya, Thailand
We took a river cruise one of the days here and one of the highlights was being able to see this elephant sanctuary.

Ayutthaya
It always amazes me when you see how nature always trumps mankind. Puts us in our place.

Ayutthaya, Thailand
Kate and I happened to be in Ayutthaya when they had some sort of festival. They sold all these different types of food when we were there.

Tian Tan Buddha
I was inspired to see this after watching Infernal Affairs. Definitely go see it if you haven't yet.

Hong Kong Marketplace
This picture reminded me of La Boqueria but dirtier and smellier.
